Monday, we learned French vocabulary for family members, rooms in a house and furniture, as well as vocab for numbers, colors, and animals. We played Jeopardy in French, did a word search, and also talked about Seurat’s art. The students observed his artwork, and then created their own pointillism pieces.
Tuesday we reviewed all the vocabulary and verb tenses we had learned on Monday. Then we talked about French food and clothing and learned the vocab for these subjects. We did a word search, played Uno, and played Jeopardy again (all emphasizing new and previously acquired French vocab). We also discussed the French painter Monet, studied some of his art, and created our own impressionist pieces.
Wednesday we started off by reviewing what we had learned earlier in the week. We learned the words for parts of the body, and vocabulary for objects at the beach and in nature, as well as vocabulary for items in a bedroom. We did a word search and played Jeopardy again - two big favorites among our students. We had a guest today, a man who speaks French very well and will be back again to teach. In the afternoon we watched part of a Harry Potter film in French, and learned more vocabulary for objects found in the classroom. We also talked about Matisse, looked at his art, and created some of our
own based on his work.
