This course allows children to have fun and develop their creativity while making a variety of different art projects. They have the opportunity to finger paint, make collages, use watercolors, draw with colored pencils, and to make their own greeting cards.

Introduction to Drawing

This dynamic art course allows students to explore line, shape, composition and color. Children gain confidence through drawing, by learning different techniques and being introduced to new drawing mediums.

Creating Comic Books!

Learn about popular comic-book titles, current trends in comic and graphic novels for children and teens and how comics are published. The class members create their very own comic book by applying all the creative and production aspects, from the story, to the art,  the colors and the lettering. Anime/Manga

Students learn about Anime and Manga (Japanese Animations and Comic Books). This art form combines vivid expression and meticulous design with extraordinary storylines. The class earns about the use of themes, imagery, genre, and the history of Anime and Manga, from the beginnings of the anime wave to current popular series and films being shown in Japan.  All studies will be age-appropriate due to often mature themes in this medium. Developed by Comic Book Pro, Arsia Rozegar (The Hulk, Iron Man, Zombie Assault)

CartooningCartooning

Learn techniques on how to draw cartoon people, animals, situations and scenarios using easy-to-learn, effective drawing methods and tricks. Anyone can learn how to draw cartoons with appropriately placed shapes and lines in this fun and interactive class. Developed by Comic Book Pro, Arsia Rozegar (The Hulk, Iron Man, Zombie Assault)

Puppet and Mask Making

Children assemble and create their own masks and puppets based on themes of personality, animals, and more. A variety of fun materials such as feathers, paint, sequins and stickers are used to inspire their imaginations.

Jewelry Workshop

Make your own jewelry in a hands-on introduction to this exciting and creative art form. Students make professional-looking beaded jewelry using a variety of materials.  Examples are earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pins and rings. Have fun creating jewelry for yourself and  start a hobby that allows you to give beautiful, low-cost gifts to family and friends.

Beadwork and Beyond

Create fun and fashionable jewelry through the art of beadwork and embroidery.  Students  learn the history and origin of beadwork.   They design their own line of accessories, which may include a denim bag, hat, shirt or even jeans.

Hemp, Beads & Friendship Bracelets

Students will design and make necklaces, bracelets and other accessories out of hemp, beads and embroidery string. Want to impress your friends with your creative wear? Then this is the class for you.

Yarn Club: Knitting

For beginning and intermediate students. Knitters learn the basics of this fun and relaxing art form. The techniques  introduced include purling, circular knitting and using multiple yarns.  Learn how to create colorful hats and scarves. More experienced knitters, who are comfortable with the basic skills, can branch out in new directions. Students  may explore techniques such as felting, modular knitting ( patchwork-style squares), using  beads and entrelac (basket weave knitting). They then can utilize these new techniques to make exciting creations. 

SewingBeginning Sewing

Designed for beginners, this fun course is an introduction to the wonderful and creative art of sewing. Students are exposed to the basics of sewing, including cutting, marking, pressing and using tools and notions. More advanced sewing work may be covered once students feel comfortable with the basic material. Methods include sewing-machine work. Projects include creating placemats, pillowcases, decorative pillows, and other useful and attractive items.

Fashion Design 101

Are you an avid reader of fashion magazines? Inspired by shows like Project Runway? If fashion is your passion, then Fashion Design 101 is the class for you! Appropriate for students with little or no design experience, this class will focus on the principles of design and color and applying them to their very own styles. Students will design print, woven and knit textiles, and will render technical sketches and create their own clothing. Fashion design is a fun and creative way to merge imagination and artistic vision!

Scrap-Booking

Enter the fun, creative world of this popular new fad. Scrap-booking is a great way to express artistic creativity and preserve childhood memories. Using photos, mementos (such as ticket stubs, drawings, pictures, poems) and art supplies (feathers, stickers, glitter, etc.) students learn how to cut, glue, design and decorate a book to present their life stories  to the rest of the class.

Creative Felting

Felt-making is a unique and fun medium to learn. The course covers the basics of this ancient technique, including flat felting, felting on a ball, surface design and sculptural elements such as handles and appendages. Students learn to create their own hats, bags, and other items.

Nature Crafts

Discover all the fun things that we can create just by using the great outdoors. From picture frames with sticks, to leaf rubbings, to collages, see what nature has to offer.

Found Art

With some interesting materials and a lot of imagination, students create one-of-a-kind sculptures. Using the basic techniques we teach, students collect an array of fun objects to choose from: feathers, beads, plastic containers, objects found in nature (such as rocks and shells), paints and other items to create interesting and beautiful pieces.

Ceramics

Students in this class discover the exciting world of clay! Basic hand-building techniques teach the students how to create their very own clay objects and simple pottery.

Introduction to Polymer Clay

Welcome to one of the most popular and versatile of crafts. Students learn how to make beads, millefiori canes, jewelry, figurines, hair ornaments, picture frames, amulets and more. Students can even assemble larger pieces from the smaller ones they have created.

Digital Photography

Learn how to use a digital camera and to edit photos using a computer. Practicing techniques such as framing and exposure adjustment, students have the opportunity to practice their skills taking pictures both indoors and outdoors, uploading the images and editing them in a personal, journalistic or artistic style.
