Overview

These days, the post-graduation options for high school students can seem overwhelming, even for the most prepared families. From deciding what path to take after high school, to preparing for all the new adventures to come, graduation can be a challenging time for students and parents alike. Yet very often, school guidance counselors are not able to give students the individualized attention they need with regard to the college application process. This is where The Enrichment Centers’ College Counseling Program can help!

Available throughout the academic year as well as during the summer, our College Counseling Program helps guide current high school students -- as well as high school graduates and college transfer students -- through this exciting experience.

In particular, the College Counseling Program offers help with the college search itself. Since choosing a college is a highly personal decision, we make every effort to help students make appropriate choices that suit their individual needs and interests.

Every student who wants to go to college deserves to go, and we are ready to help. The college search can be especially trying for students with learning disabilities or ADD/ADHD, and our services are open to students of all ages, backgrounds and aptitudes.

Although we can make no guarantees that students will be accepted to their first choice schools, we know that they will emerge from our program more confident in their strengths and abilities, and better prepared to handle life’s journey.

How We Can Help

Directed by a graduate of Smith College who has done graduate work at Harvard University and Johns Hopkins, our College Counseling Program helps with the college search every step of the way. We work with students and parents to:

• Compile a profile of possible colleges to apply to, and assist in the decision of which school to attend
• Create a feasible time-table for the entire application process, providing ample time to complete each step
• Work through the application itself, making sure that students present themselves as positively and accurately as possible
• Help students with the essay portion, placing particular emphasis on making the writing unique, clear, and grammatically correct
• Set up mock interviews to prepare for possible questions students may encounter when visiting schools
• Provide examples of positive ways to explain problems (i.e. academic, attendance or health issues) on a transcript
• Assist with selecting a major
• Help students with learning disabilities or ADHD by providing extra support, information on college LD or ADHD programs, and helping present these disabilities in the most positive way

Above all, our College Counseling Program helps parents and students understand the process of applying to colleges, figuring out what to look for, and what are the important questions to ask. This process is highly individualized, taking each student’s academic background, talents, and specific needs into consideration, while also working with parents to make the college search as painless and rewarding as possible.

Not Interested in College?

We realize that not all high school graduates are destined for a four-year college, and that the process of choosing the right path after graduation is just as challenging for those interested in other options. We assist not only those planning to attend college right away, but also help graduates find their way in other walks of life. Whether a student is considering a technical or trade school, a community college, a full-time job, study abroad, or any other path, we help take all the different options into consideration to determine which path makes the most sense.

Not Graduating Yet?

We are also able to help students who are interested in post-high school education, but who need credits to graduate or are having a difficult time passing a class. We have helped countless individuals graduate by providing tutoring for classes they were struggling in, or home-schooling to get the last few credits needed for graduation. Whether students are struggling in school, or simply need a little extra assistance, The Enrichment Centers can help! Please visit our Tutoring Page, and let us know how we can help you make your academic goals a reality.
